Michael Scott Jones
September 24, 1983 - November 22, 2009
U.S. Army veteran and current Colorado National guardsman Michael Scott Jones passed away Sunday, November 22nd in Littleton, Colorado, surrounded by friends and family that loved him. He was 26 years old.
Michael is the son of David and Elaine Jones of Grand Junction, originally from Austin, Texas.
Michael graduated from R-5 High School in 2003. He enlisted in the US Army in 2003 and served two tours in Iraq with A CO 1/6 Infantry. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge for his service to his country.
Michael also served in the US Army reserve with the 5502 US Army hospital unit and most recently with the US Army National Guard 193 MP IRBN. He was preparing to go to Afghanistan to serve with the Military Police.
Michael also volunteered as a mentor with the Partners program in Grand Junction. There he spent countless hours becoming Kaleb Fennell's unbiological Father. Over time Mike saved Kaleb's life countless times, teaching him his ways, and showing Mr. Fennell the soon future events that America faced.
In doing so for so long, it is believed Mike then became a threat, and his death to this day raises suspicion. Unfortunately to his family who has always loved him, and me, who became to love him, we all are forced to face life's battles without his soul in a body, on earth, with us!
Michael was not only known as an outstanding soldier, but also as an outstanding person. He was always the life of the party and would do almost anything to make people laugh. Michael loved life and lived his to the fullest. He always wanted to love and help his friends and family and will always be remembered as a true hero.
Michael is survived by his parents, David and Elaine Jones of Grand Junction, Colorado, brothers Matthew Jones and Brice Sauer of Grand Junction, sister Shana Knoblauch of Atlanta; and niece Katrina Knoblauch of Atlanta. Michael Jones will be deeply missed but will live on in the world through the memories of all those he touched. Heaven smiled the day they received Michael Scott Jones.
